PETER JOHNSON MAULE
October 4, 1933-August 17, 2024
With sadness, and with deep gratitude for the gift of his loving kindness, the family announces the passing of Peter Maule on Saturday August 17th, 2024, in his 91st year. Proud father of Stephen (Elizabeth Walker), David (Linda), Carolyn (Russell Braun), proud grandfather of Rebecca (Eric Chavarie), Nicholas (Alyssa Robinson), Benjamin and Gabriel, joy-filled at the news of becoming Great-Grandfather of Lola, (Rebecca and Eric). Predeceased by his first wife, Catherine Elizabeth Maule (d.2020), and his partner, Beverley Taylor (d.1998). Peter served as head of the English department of Parry Sound High School, where he organized trips to Stratford, directed many school musicals, conducted the PSHS choir, and coached the tennis and badminton teams. He served as a founding board member of the Festival of the Sound and was later president of the board. Peter was a member of the United Church of Canada, singing in the choir at St James United Church in Parry Sound, serving as Choir Director at Grace United Church in Barrie, and in his latter years singing in the St John’s United Church choir in Georgetown. In retirement, Peter continued to share his love for education by helping students through the Kumon program and presiding over exams. Peter loved watching his grandsons’ baseball games and loved hearing about all his grandchildren’s adventures. He loved his family deeply. Peter was known for his listening skills and his interest in people. His gentle kindness radiated through to whomever he was with. Even when his physical health was declining, his heart connected deeply with many friends. He will be greatly missed.
