Joan Patricia Pallister
April 26, 1930 - April 20, 2025
Joan Pallister passed away peacefully just six days away from her 95th birthday at the RVH Regional Health Center in Barrie on April 20, 2025. Predeceased by son Kenny, daughter Ann McNaughton, sister Joyce Sye, brothers Bob and Ken Parsons, brother-in-law Don Higgins, and dear niece Andrea. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Mary Booth and Jane Shannon, sons-in-law Bill Booth and Richard Shannon, sisters Margie and Peggy, and sister-in-law Julie Parsons. Gramma Joanie will be fondly remembered as a “one of a kind” grandmother by her nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Trevor (Chantal), Kenneth (Kassia), Samantha, Amy (Kyle), Will (Audrey), Jamie, Everett (Hannah), and Matthew, and great grandson Rory. Auntie Joanie will also be missed by seven nephews and one very special niece Judy. Born on April 26, 1930 to Joseph and Ethel Parsons (Nannie and Poppa) Joan loved to tell stories about her childhood in Mount Dennis (Toronto) and the family’s move to Aurora at age 12 where they lived on the Bloomington Sideroad, known as the Pinnacle Road at that time. Her stories always revolved around her family. Later living in Richmond Hill as she raised four children on her own, Joan’s love and devotion to her family was an unwavering constant as she overcame life’s many challenges. Joan also lived in London Ontario for many years to be near family and has lived in Barrie since 2007, also to be near family. Wherever she lived, Joan’s friendly demeanor and unassuming ways allowed her to settle in and make friends easily. Joan was at her happiest in the company of the people she loved and who loved her. Although no longer with us in life, her spirit will live on in the memories we share of a very special mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbour, and friend. Joan’s family would like to express their thanks to the kind nurses and other staff at RVH who provided compassion and support during her final weeks, and a special thanks to Dr. Turner for being with her when she took her last breath.
