JASON KAUFMAN
February 1, 1978 to December 18, 2024
It is with profound sorrow that the family of Jason Kaufman announce his sudden passing on December 18th at the age of 46. Though his life was cut short his legacy will live on forever thru the family and friends who loved his quick smile, humble attitude and easy going nature. We promise to never stop saying his name.
Jason was born on February 1st, 1978 in Albion Michigan. In addition to the United States Jason lived in Turkey as a young man. He became an accomplished linguist and spoke 5 languages fluently. He also had the bragging rights to say he spent an evening with both Mohammad Ali and Cat Stevens while living in Turkey. But when Jason met Marlene – the love of his life – it was clear he was going to do everything possible to make Canada his new home and he did just that. Marlene and Jason married on March 14, 2007 and shared a level of love and devotion that many people never experience. Their love only deepened with the arrival of their two daughters. The newlyweds started their marriage by commuting between Detroit and Windsor before Jason was allowed to move to Canada. Isabella was born in Windsor and after settling in Barrie they welcomed Maddison. We all remember fondly the day Jason was given his Canadian Citizenship as he was so proud to call this country home.
Jason loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman…he was especially happy when loading up the vehicles and heading out camping with his girls for a few days. But nothing put a smile on his face like fishing – especially when Maddison and Isabella accompanied him. At home Jason happily spent endless hours building Lego with Maddison as this was also one of his favourite childhood hobbies . He also enjoyed helping Maddison bring to life her creative visions thru a shared love of architecture and engineering. And he never tired of watching Isabella ride her favourite horse Gaelan and proudly supported her ambition to compete in equestrian events. As a top tier student interested in pursuing a career in the medical field Isabella had the unwavering guidance and support of her father to ensure these dreams become a reality.
Through the early years of his life Jason worked at a variety of interesting jobs - including working as a translator in Scotland and driving limousines in New York City - before pursuing an education in finish carpentry. His love of working with wood came from many happy hours spent in his grandfather’s workshop . Jason took great pride in his work and his legacy will live on thru his flawless work on so many homes including those of friends and family.
Left behind to mourn his loss are his loving wife and children…Marlene, Isabella and Maddison, In addition he is survived by his mother Hamidah Kaufman of Ypsilanti, Michigan The void he leaves will never be filled and the loss is also felt deeply with his extended family including special mother in law Melanie Miller (Jamie), Grandma Miller (James predeceased) and (Auntie) Cathy Miller (Moreno predeceased). He is also survived by sister-in-law and brother-in law Adria and Rob Madill and nieces and nephews Aidan, Ashton and Amelia. In the United States Jason was predeceased by his grandparents Jerry and Joyce Seward and survived by 5 sisters…Aminah (Ahmed), Halimah (Angshuman), Rabia (Ismail), Aisha and Munire (Alper) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his uncle Bill Kaufman.
There will be no visitation or funeral services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements handled by Legacy Funeral and Cremation Services Inc. of Barrie.
