Irene Lafreniere

Irene Lafreniere (née Lincez), passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the age of 78 in Barrie, Ontario. She was born on October 9, 1945, in Kapuskasing Ontario. Irene’s passing was peaceful, with her daughter, Kalina Cook, by her side. Kalina’s love and support provided her comfort. She will forever be remembered for her kindness and deep love for her family. Her passing marked the end of a remarkable journey filled with love, dedication, and accomplishments.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Etienne (Ed) Lafreniere, who passed away last summer on August 21st, 2023. She is survived by her son Stephane Lafreniere (Kimberley) and their two daughters, Tayler and Natasha Fish; daughter Kalina Cook (Josh) and their son Carter and daughter Grace.

Irene’s brother Dan Lincez survives her. Predeceased by her beloved sister Lorraine Gauthier (Lincez, 2022) and brother Ron Lincez (1961).

Irene loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed reading and prior to Etienne’s death they loved taking a drive through the countryside.

A private Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday February 25 for family and close friends.

As we come together to celebrate Irene’s life, remember the moments that brought joy and the valuable lessons she imparted. May her legacy serve as a constant reminder to treasure our loved ones and find joy in every precious day.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
