Ann Tomlinson

Constance Ann “Ann” Tomlinson, 83, of Barrie, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, at Hospice Simcoe with family by her side.  Ann was born on December 13, 1940, in Barrie, Ontario, and is predeceased by her father, Jack Butler, her mother, Clara Butler (nee Spearn), and her husband, Roger Tomlinson.  Ann was a loving wife to Roger, devoted mother to Jeff (Sherry Holtzhauer) and Jill (Dan Deakos), proud Nana to Ainsly, Abby, and Tyler, and a dear friend to many.

Ann was beautiful, bright, and knew how to enjoy life.  In her younger years she bought a pair of water skis as the handsome boy she met, Roger, had a boat but no skis.  Roger and Ann married on September 21, 1963, and together they shared almost 60 years of love and companionship.

Ann was happiest when living on or just being near water.   She spent many happy summers cottaging on the French River with Roger and his sister, Janice, and her husband, Ken Popple.  They spent hours on the lake fishing, finding remote islands to picnic on, and just enjoying their time together.

Ann had a gift for making lifelong friendships and was always there to listen and offer support to those who needed it. Some of her best, and funniest, memories were made with her friends - whether those were at the group birthday parties and celebrations, weekly card games with “the ladies”, or just getting lost on a backroad in Ontario while going for a drive with a dear friend ~ there was always a laugh and a story to be told.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and close friends when the weather is warm and the sun glistens off the lake.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ann’s memory to Hospice Simcoe, as the last few weeks of her life were a blessing thanks to the nurses, staff, and volunteers who gave her back her life, even if was just for a short time.

Ann, you will be forever loved and missed.
